Group one: the information
1. Who is responsible
GRESKO s.r.o. publishes broadnotion.online and is responsible for the handling described here. GRESKO s.r.o. is registered at Na hutích 581/1, Dejvice, 160 00 Praha 6, Czech Republic, company number 24754404, VAT number CZ24754404, and can be reached at info@broadnotion.online.
2. The framework this follows
Personal information connected with this site is handled in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. The Australian Privacy Principles are published by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au/privacy/australian-privacy-principles. Where this policy refers to a principle by number, that is the document it refers to.
3. What this policy covers
This policy covers broadnotion.online and nothing else. When you follow a link to another website — including the affiliate links in section 12 and the Australian government sites referred to throughout — you are on a site with its own privacy policy, cookies and practices, none of which GRESKO s.r.o. controls.
4. Everything that is collected
There are exactly three categories, and then a fourth statement about everything else.
(a) Access logs. When your browser requests a page, our hosting provider records a log entry containing your IP address, the date and time, the URL requested, the referring page if your browser sends one, and the user-agent string. This is a function of how web servers operate, and the logs are held by the hosting provider.
(b) Email. If you write to info@broadnotion.online, we receive your address, your name if you include it, your message and any attachments. Please do not send health information, financial details, identity document numbers or other sensitive information; we do not need any of it. If such details do arrive, they are deleted once they are no longer needed to deal with your message.
(c) The font request. This site uses a typeface served by Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the stylesheet and font files directly from Google, and Google receives your IP address as a necessary part of answering that request. It does not pass through us and we do not receive it.
(d) Nothing else is collected. There is no contact form, newsletter, quiz, account, login, chat widget or telephone field anywhere on this site. No cookies are set, and no localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB is used. There is no analytics, advertising tag, tracking pixel, social or video embed, and no profiling or cross-site tracking. The only external request is to Google Fonts.
5. Reading this site anonymously
You do not need to identify yourself to read anything here, and there is no way to do so even if you wanted to. Consistent with Australian Privacy Principle 2, you may also deal with us pseudonymously by email. The one exception is a request for access or correction under section 15: there we need enough to be sure we are responding to the right person, because releasing information to the wrong one would be worse.
Group two: what happens to it
6. The purpose of each category
Access logs are used to keep the site available, to prevent abuse such as automated attacks, and to diagnose faults. Email is used to read and answer your message and for nothing else. The font request exists to display the typeface; it carries no identifier we create.
7. How long each category is kept
Access logs are kept for 30 days, after which they are deleted or overwritten by the hosting provider in the ordinary course. Email is kept for 24 months after the last message in the conversation, and is then deleted, unless it is needed for the establishment, exercise or defence of a legal claim, in which case it is kept until that matter concludes. Information reaching Google through the font request is subject to Google's own retention, which GRESKO s.r.o. does not control, does not have access to and cannot shorten; Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
8. Use and disclosure
Consistent with Australian Privacy Principle 6, information is used only for the purposes in section 6. It is never sold, rented, traded or shared for marketing, and it is not used to build a profile of you. It is disclosed to authorities only where the law requires it, and we will not volunteer it otherwise.
9. Direct marketing
Consistent with Australian Privacy Principle 7, there is no direct marketing from this site: no mailing list, no newsletter, no promotional email. If you write to us, you receive a reply and nothing further, and your address is not added to anything.
10. Who receives information
Three recipients and no others: our hosting provider, which operates the servers and holds the access logs; our email service provider, which operates the mailbox; and Google, which receives the font request described in section 4(c). No advertising network, analytics company, data broker or marketing service receives anything, because none is present on this site.
11. Information going overseas
Consistent with Australian Privacy Principle 8, you should know that information connected with this site may be stored or processed outside Australia. Our hosting provider and our email service provider may store data outside Australia, and the mailbox is read by people working for GRESKO s.r.o. in the Czech Republic, so email you send will be accessed in the Czech Republic and within the European Union. Google may process the font request in the United States and in other countries. GRESKO s.r.o. is itself established in the Czech Republic, which means that any information it holds is held there.
12. Affiliate links
Some pages carry paid affiliate links to Norton AntiVirus Plus. Following one takes you off broadnotion.online. From that point, Norton AntiVirus Plus and the affiliate network that operates the link may use cookies or similar technology on their own sites to record that the referral came from here, under their own privacy policies rather than this one. GRESKO s.r.o. receives commission reports from the affiliate network. Those reports are used only to reconcile payments, and we neither seek nor want information identifying individual readers in them.
13. Security
Consistent with Australian Privacy Principle 11, the site is served over HTTPS. There is no database behind it and no submitted information is stored, because nothing can be submitted — which removes a category of risk rather than managing it. The hosting account and the mailbox are accessible only to people working for GRESKO s.r.o. We make no claim to any certification, audit or standard, because we hold none.
14. Keeping information accurate
Consistent with Australian Privacy Principle 10, the only information capable of being inaccurate is something you have told us in an email. If you tell us that something we hold about you is wrong or out of date, we will correct it, and section 15 explains how to ask.
Group three: your rights
15. Access and correction
Consistent with Australian Privacy Principles 12 and 13, you may ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Write to info@broadnotion.online with "Privacy request" in the subject line. There is no charge, and we will respond within 30 days. In practice the answer is usually that we hold nothing beyond an email you sent us. If we cannot give you access to something, we will tell you why in writing.
16. Complaints
If you believe your privacy has been mishandled in connection with this site, write to info@broadnotion.online with "Privacy complaint" in the subject line, and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, or would rather not come to us first, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, which explains the process at oaic.gov.au/privacy/privacy-complaints.
17. Data breaches
If we become aware of unauthorised access to, or disclosure or loss of, personal information connected with this site, we will assess what has happened promptly. Where serious harm to anyone affected is likely, we will notify the affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
18. Children
This site is not directed at people under 16 and carries no content intended for children. We do not knowingly collect information about a child, and since there are no forms, accounts or tracking, there is no mechanism through which we could identify any reader's age.
19. Readers in the EU, EEA and the United Kingdom
GRESKO s.r.o. is established in the Czech Republic, so European data protection law applies to its handling of personal data in addition to the Australian framework described above.
Legal bases. Access logs and the delivery of fonts rest on our legitimate interests in keeping the site secure, available and legible. Email correspondence is handled in order to respond to your enquiry. There is no consent basis anywhere on this site, because there are no cookies and no tracking to consent to.
Your rights. You have the right of access to your personal data, and rights to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing based on legitimate interests. To exercise any of them, write to info@broadnotion.online.
Supervisory authority. You may lodge a complaint with the Czech data protection authority, the Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů (Office for Personal Data Protection), at uoou.gov.cz, or with the supervisory authority in your own country of residence.
20. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top is updated the same day. Where a change is material — a new recipient, a new category of information, a longer retention period — a note saying so appears at the top of this page for 30 days, so a returning reader need not compare versions.
